ROW LAMP
Husasmidjan, a chain of hardware stores in Iceland invited designers to repurpose their waste materials. The final results were exhibited during DesignMarch 2026.
Repetition and uniformity define this material, originally produced as a door core. Its surface feels rough and tactile, a quiet reminder of its industrial origins. In this work, the material is reassembled in a new way and paired with light, transforming it into something vibrant and alive.
Here, the power of design thinking comes into play. Each circular form becomes a small stage where light and shadow interact. As light moves across the arranged surfaces, the material appears to shift and change. Through this visual transformation, what was once ordinary is given renewed presence, extending its life rather than being discarded.
Material: Hollow tube door core, waste material.
